Please note that Tokbox is now called Vonage. You can still access the legacy TokBox site here: https://tokbox.com/account/user/signup

A TokBox account is required if you wish to publish a video feed to users.

You will need to set up a new project within TokBox, and then provide us with the API.

*** Please note that there is a cost involved with using video streaming. See the TokBox (Vonage) pricing page for details or ask us on support@bidlogix.net for more information. ***

How to Create a Project

  1. Login to https://id.tokbox.com/login  (or create an account)
  2. Click Create Project
  3. Choose Standard Project
  4. Choose your preferred codec from the dropdown menu. We highly recommend using the VP8 codec as it provides the best quality stream for larger scale broadcasts. (Please note, Tokbox has also now added iOS/Mac OS support for the VP8 codec so this no longer needs to be a consideration). If you would like further information, please contact us on support@bidlogix.net. When you have chosen the appropriate codec for you, click Create.
  5. When you have clicked create you will be presented with the following screen. Please copy and past your API key and secret to us on support@bidlogix.net.

6. Email TokBox's support email address quoting your API key to request that your account has Simulcast switched on and that the broadcast bitrate is set to a minimum of 300kbps. (Find out more about why here). This step is very important to preserve the quality of your video streams.

How to Retrieve your TokBox API

Once you have created your project:

  1. Go to Projects from the side bar then > select your project from the list
  2. Copy and paste the API key and secret into an email to support@bidlogix.net so that we can apply this to your bidlogix account.

Test Your Connection

We recommend that you test your outgoing connection using TokBox's testing facility. Using the computer with the microphone and camera you intend to use for webcasting, click this link and follow the instructions to test your feed: https://tokbox.com/developer/tools/precall/.

Setting the Minimum Broadcast Bitrate with Simulcast

We highly recommend you email TokBox to request they set your minimum broadcasting bitrate to 300kbps and that Simulcast is enabled. This will prevent the quality of the feed being reduced if any subscribers join that have a poor connection.
